Who is the Family Outdoor Network for?
All families of all kinds are welcome as members
of the Family Outdoor Network, but it is most valuable if any of
the following applies to your family:

fun family outdoor
adventures provided by quality outfitters.
- You have preteen kids.
- You don't have the time to spend hours researching
where to go and what outfitter to choose.

A Family Outdoor Network adventure…
This section will chronicle a family's personal
experience with an outdoor adventure using a Family Outdoor Network
Partner.
Who
are the outfitters and service providers?
Our Family Outdoor Network Partner network is
built upon a core of small to medium sized outfitters. Many are family
businesses. Most have been in business at least five years. They are
experienced professionals that love the outdoors. Serving families is
at the core of their business. They are members of at least one industry
trade association.
In addition to this core of small and medium sized
outfitters, the Family Outdoor Network Partners includes service providers
(other activities and lodgings) that support the outfitters or are near
the outfitter. This allows you to plan a whole outing or vacation using
information from the Family Outdoor Network.
We
do not choose companies based on price. We try to stay away from companies
that compete on price. It has been our experience that it is difficult
for companies in the outfitting and travel service industry to consistently
provide quality service at prices that are significantly below what
others are charging.
We work with companies that provide quality service
at a reasonable price. After they are approved by our Advisory Board,
we ask that they give our members special discounts &/or benefits.
Our Family Outdoor Network Partners are selected
based on the following guidelines:
- Serving families with preteen kids is a core
part of their business.
- In business five or more years.
- Member of an industry trade association (promotes
and develops professionalism).
- Approved by our Advisory Board.
- Many of our Partners are family owned and
operated businesses.
- Most are small and medium sized businesses.

Who
are we?
Family Outdoor Network was founded by the folks
at Blue Ridge Outing Company, Inc. and is operated by and as a part
of Blue Ridge Outing Company, Inc.
We are located in the mountains of Western North
Carolina where the Smoky Mountains meet the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Blue Ridge Outing Company was founded in 1988
and serves families and groups with younger kids. We take kids as young
as age four on guide-assisted whitewater rafting trips. We run Class
I and II whitewater. Our trips are fun, safe, and not too rough..
Why we developed the Family Outdoor Network
We started the Family Outdoor Network as a way
of connecting our customers with other quality family-friendly outfitters
and service providers. For years we have referred our customers to other
family-friendly outfitters and service providers. The Family Outdoor
Network allows us to share this information with others and to serve
areas outside our Western North Carolina mountain home.
The most satisfying part of our rafting business
has always been seeing the smiling faces of families having a great
time during and after their rafting trip. We want the Family Outdoor
Network to help your family have smiling faces and fond memories that
will last a lifetime.
